Recently, I noticed I was getting some bad sector errors on my OS hard drive and realized that it was getting older (about 4~5 years old). I figured it was a good time to upgrade to a solid state drive. I remember reading good reviews about Intel's x25's and so I saw a good deal on them online and got one. I've been using it for a couple of days now, and I can say, wow, what a difference. My machine use to take about 3 minutes to start up (I think because I have some drives in RAID that it takes FOREVER to detect), and now start up time is around 25 seconds. I may actually start using hibernate mode because it wakes up from that in under 5 seconds. Photoshop, which takes about 15 seconds to open on my work PC now takes about 4 seconds to open. It's just lightning fast. I'd love to get one of these for my new laptop when it's time to buy! The other thing that really surprised me about the SSD is the small size. I've seen my share of laptop hard drives, and this guy is about half as thick. I'm surprised that they aren't putting two into laptops and raiding them together. Anyways, back to work.
