So far, this blog is the easiest and most fun I've done yet! No stress of posting, no screen capturing or video (yet). I know it's only day two, but look! 4 posts already! Anyways, here's some work in progress renders of my SH-60 Sea Hawk model. It's the Navy's version of the Black Hawk, but in my opinion, it looks cooler. I started this model over a year ago, got about 2 hours into it, then abandoned it. I resurected the project hoping that I would be able to finish it by the end of my studio's Alien Invasion project. Probably won't happen, but I'll still try. I've started on the front and am working my way back. I'm trying out a different style of modeling for this one, using booleans (YIKES) to cut out intricate shapes from the hull. I want to try to texture this in Mari if my trial version doesn't run out of time first.
I have probably about 15~20 hours into it so far. I've really got to get better about timing my models, but what fun is that? Modeling is about fun, something I can relax and enjoy.
I've modeled and textured PLENTY of planes, but the only time I've done a helicopter was working pre-vis at Digital Domain, and I didn't get to add any detail to that one. This one I'm adding very small details and I think I'm going to model on the rivets and seams. That will save me time come texturing, and I think will help sell the realism. In the end, I want to put together an awesome render similar to this guys.
Nice work whomever you are.
